Having finished reading the conversation script, I can assume that the teacher is exceptionally brilliant and highly skilled at conducting an online class through the chatting app, and his knowledge of English is second best to none. He is not only able to invoke the student’s enthusiasm in learning but also able to exclusively provide what his student lacks of. The teacher, once again, used meaningful resources and always tried to connect the lesson with real-life application. It creates a more practical learning process. However, I found out about several cases of canceled class due to unexpected problems faced by either the teacher or the student. It could be understandable, of course, but others might find it troublesome. As far as I know, we shouldn’t have neglected our student at whatever cost. Thus, I reckon that establishing rules for replacing the fixed teacher with the available one will help to solve the problem.
Student Name: Josh Tunggal
Simulation Date: Feb 20, 2021
Notes
Josh has demonstrated interest in English. He could use English with a little push from people around him. His pronunciation was very clear for his age. He understood basic daily English vocabulary. However, it took him a while to recall a word. This can be solved by using flashcard to intrigue instant memory (word and picture). Josh could create very simple sentences (I like car. I like noodle) but he needs to be exposed more to various kinds of simple sentences. He tended to use single word rather than to form a sentence.
Student’s goal:
To use English in daily activity at home and school
Recommended plan:
– Sentence introduction
– Vocabulary and single pronunciation drilling (flashcard and games – Kahoot)
– Theme-based lesson plan starting from beginning (Alphabets, numbers, self-introduction, coolurs, etc)
– Go towards: at the end of the lesson, Josh will be able to (1) form basic sentences, (2) ask questions in English, (3) form simple descriptive text orally.
Note: He likes cars and basketball. Find games suitable for his age. He tended to look at mum for support, earn his trust to be okay learning without mum. However, it is okay to involve mum for practice at times.
