Master of TESOL from Monash University in Australia
International experience:
The opportunity as the Liaison Officer for ASEAN School Games becomes my first encounter with non-Indonesian people. The network and friendship lasts in the forms of several projects together with the former committee as well as with the former participants. After that, I was also given an opportunity to be an intern at Education First, Overseas Homestay division. However, the attempt to focus on getting the scholarship and studying overseas urged me to resign from the job. Several months after resigning, Monash University and Melbourne brought me the real sense of international experiences. Moreover, being an Education Student Ambassador at the Faculty of Education, Monash University, deepens the intercultural awareness and grows.
Teaching experience:
Generally speaking, I have been teaching general English since the semester 2 of my undergraduate degree. I have been teaching students from various levels of education, levels of proficiency, and educational background. Only in the semester 8 of my undergraduate degree, I began to receive requests to teach my colleagues and their relatives test-focused English. I am currently entrusted to be the TOEFL subject co-coordinator for junior high school students at an International Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo resulting in the students being able to achieve 400-500 for TOEFL ITP.
Educational background:
I earned Master of TESOL from Monash University in Australia. Due to obtaining exemption for all subjects in Semester 1 and entry level 2, I had 18 months only to finish the courses and get my degree whereas new students would normally get 2 years to accomplish.

Student’s Current State :
Syauqi’s English proficiency is already very well. His pronunciation was excellent and clear, and he was also very fluent in speaking long sentences. The use of tenses was also spot on, although mostly not complex. Still, Syauqi’s unfamiliarity with answering IELTS Speaking questions was apparent as he often paused after a long answer and went blank. Syauqi also didn’t know about IELTS as a whole.
Student Lack In :
Despite being unfamiliar with IELTS, Syauqi has already had good English skill. He only needs to practise more IELTS question to familiarise himself with them. Syauqi also needs to learn to structure his answers when speaking to avoid pausing and achieve a higher fluency level.
Recommended Solutions :
A familiarisation of IELTS is what Syauqi really needs. Therefore, the lessons will focus on practices of various forms of IELTS questions and how to answer them.
